aboutDagmar Dworakowski

I am offering counselling sessions based on CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) for people experiencing difficulties with mild to moderate anxiety and depression, panic and mild OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity CBT from Exeter University, which is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).

My counselling sessions are based on guided self-help, and I am using and referring to evidence-based interventions published by CEDAR (Clinical Education Development and Research) at Exeter.

Therapy is based on recognising and changing unhelpful patterns of thinking or behaving, applying relaxation techniques and finding ways to manage stress. The aim of therapy is to empower people to find ways that will help them support their well-being, equip them with the tools and techniques they need to effectively manage and recover from anxiety and depression and make positive changes to improve their wellbeing and quality of life, whether now or in the future.

I have worked in Mental Health for the NHS, delivering one-to-one interventions, psycho-educational courses as well as facilitating CBT based groups, with more general applications for people with common mental health disorders, or more specifically tailored to pregnant women and young mothers experiencing depression, anxiety and OCD.

Through my practice, I have gained an understanding of ways to adapt my practice to accommodate diverse needs, to suit individual preferences and create a confidential, non-judgemental, open, honest and enabling therapeutic relationship.

Supporting people to overcome anxieties, depression or panic attacks, and being part of their journey towards contentment and enjoying life again – it really can make such a difference. It is a real privilege to be part of the process.

Furthermore, I am constantly developing personally and professionally, and am currently training to be a Mindful teacher. It can be often useful to include Mindfulness and Compassionate principles in my sessions.
